Alternative Data Council – Managing the Risks of Alternative Data
The 2nd webinar in the Alternative Data Council Series will lead with buy-side expert thought leaders giving timely insights into the Compliance and Legal risks associated with the extraction of value from alternative data sets used in trading and investment selection. We will discuss the due diligence buy-side firms conduct to manage the risks, including application of the Council’s recently released Due Diligence Questionnaire (“DDQ”). We then will hear from three insightful vendors about their practical experience with the due diligence process and learn how they are leveraging the standardized DDQ to speed up the process to get their data to flow and be useful to their customers.

Market Data Over Cloud – A Demonstration of Data Vendor-agnostic Infrastructure
An FISD community member created a sandbox to see whether a vendor-agnostic “container” could be implemented to retrieve market data from multiple vendors. He will demonstrate the container and discuss:
– The tools necessary to create the container: use of open-source versus commercial appliances
– Challenges to emulate traditional market data consumption and distribution environments using cloud infrastructure
– When developing market data for cloud tools we often hear the term “event driven”. What does this mean and why is it important?
– Does cloud present new/greater challenges to comply with market data policies? Can we expect new policies for cloud?
