The Foreign Exchange Market and its Global Impact

The Foreign Exchange market (or Forex) is the largest market in the world in terms of trading volume.  This session will highlight the differences and similarities with traditional equities markets and provide a high-level overview of the major characteristics of the global FX market, including volumes, trading hours and days, venues, and who the major market participants are.  We'll do a deep dive on transaction reporting as well as discuss credit uilization in the Forex market -- a major difference with the equities markets -- and take a close look at the FX Global Code -- the agreed upon standards of conduct for this global market.  Panelists will also share their insight on 'last look' and what controversies remain around this practice.

The Art and Science of Maintaining Compliance

Market participants are finding it difficult to remain in compliance with the terms and conditions of their contracts and license agreements with third-party data providers.  There are many reasons for this: rapid changes in technology, the rise in the vague and ambiguous language used in contracts, or users who are not well versed in contract language.  This session will highlight some of the ways that users can maintain compliance with their data providers.  Whether it be mapping lineage to keep track of data elements, enhancing communication between data managers and product developers, or creating an in-house education program, this session aims to provide attendees with insight that will create more audits with fewer surprises.
