Job Description
Role Purpose
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Market Data Management, this role requires a good understanding of the market data and information services industry and how these services are used in the asset management industry.
This role is central to the operation of the team as it includes ownership of the pipeline of work into the team and is the main point of contact for users in our global offices.
Excellent procurement and negotiation skills are required in order to manage our market data contracts as effectively as possible.
The team has several key responsibilities, including:
- Procurement of information services and market data from 3rd party vendors
- Managing supplier relationships with these vendors, including the use of scorecards, KPIs and suchlike.
- Financial management of the overall Information Services budget for AAM.
- Management of license requests and service issues related to vendors.
- Development and Delivery of the market data third party strategy, in conjunction with key Stakeholders and determine solutions based on the future demand.
The role holder has accountability for:
Procurement:
- Procuring and renewing Market Data services required by the business in most cost-effective manner for AAM.
- Developing sourcing strategies and category plans.
Budget, Cost & Contract Management:
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and negotiate with data vendors to achieve favourable terms and conditions.
- Ensure data/service usage and pricing is accurately recorded.
- Maintain an audit trail for all contracts and commercial agreements.
- Ensure commercial terms are accurately recorded on the Contract Management System.
- As required, assist the Finance Team with escalation of invoicing issues.
Vendor Management:
- Manage relationships with market data providers, ensuring service quality and adherence to contractual obligations.
- Conduct regular vendor service reviews including use of a clear vendor scorecard methodology.
- Actively supervise actual system usage to ensure value is acquired and to feed into renewal discussions and regular service reviews.
Stakeholder/Client Engagement:
- Acting as the primary contact across the AAM business for services provided by the vendors within their remit.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand market data needs and deliver appropriate solutions.
- Demand Management and fulfilment of requests.
Change Management & Delivery:
- Identify initiatives which enhance AAMs Investment Toolkit.
- Feed these into team’s program of work to deliver.
- Own and deliver some of these initiatives – taking on Project Management or SME responsibilities.
Compliance and Regulatory Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the acquisition and use of market data comply with all relevant regulatory requirements.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes affecting market data and implement necessary changes to maintain compliance.
- Work closely with the Compliance and Legal teams to address any regulatory concerns and support audits related to market data.
- Attestation of Exchange Use and System Access.
Key Outcomes:
- Cost Efficiency: Achieve a reduction in market data spend through effective budget management and strategic vendor negotiations. Ensuring that AAM receives value for money in respect of all externally purchased market data and information services.
- Data Quality: Maintain high standards of data quality, ensuring accurate and timely data is available to support investment decisions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all relevant market data regulations, minimizing legal and regulatory risks.
- Stakeholder Satisfaction: High levels of satisfaction among internal stakeholders with the quality and availability of market data services.
- Innovation and Improvement: Identification of new technologies and practices to enhance service delivery, efficiencies and continuous improvement in market data services. Recommend these to key Stakeholders.
- Contracts: Contract and commercial negotiations and agreements in compliance with the Procurement process. Maintaining accurate records of Market Data services deployed.
- Governance: Supplier governance for the performance of contracted services.
- SME knowledge: Provide SME knowledge to assist with the development of the future strategy for market data.
- Maintain documentation on procedures and processes of the role.
- Controls: Help ensure that appropriate controls are in place, so market data is used within the terms of the licences.

Team Description
The Information Services team leads the activities and functions that drive revenue and earnings growth from
NZX’s Market Data, Connectivity and Indices products.
Overall Role Purpose
The Head of Information Services has responsibility for the Information Services business unit including the
development and delivery of strategic objectives associated with growth and operations of the Market Data,
Indices and Connectivity businesses. The role has direct responsibility for a number of key relationships including
with NZX’s indices provider, data vendors, connectivity suppliers and all customers associated with the revenue lines above.
Key Responsibilities
•
Leadership of the Information Services team that delivers a customer focused culture, development opportunities and high engagement.

The sales management and mentoring of the Information Services sales team.
•
Ownership of the Information Services P&L statements and budgets.
•
Develop and deliver the Information Services strategy and the execution of strategy to help NZX and its Capital Markets business division achieve its vision.
•
Positive and proactive contribution to the Capital Markets leadership team with support of the objectives of the Markets Development, Insights and Digital Enablement functions of the business.
•
Involvement in the implementation and continuous improvement of Salesforce to report on sales opportunities and managing customer relationships.

Directly responsible for account and opportunity management and planning with selected key Market Data, Indices and Connectivity customers.
•
Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and other strategic partners associated with the Information Services business including S&P.
•
Contribution to the transformation of the current Capital Markets product set and an ongoing commitment to continued product enhancement.
Commercial support of development of Capital Markets businesses to help achieve vision and objectives.
Commercial management of Information Services relationships including policy oversight and development of licensing agreements and contracts, contract negotiations and reviews.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Leadership training (preferred)
Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or any other related field (essential)
EXPERIENCE
- Held sales or commercial leadership role for a minimum period of 7 years
- Broad experience and knowledge of exchange Information Services businesses with a minimum period of 5 years
- Demonstrated success in leading in a cross functional environment
