Scott Cooper

Scott spent seven years as the Asia Pacific Global Banking & Financial Markets (GB&FM) Marketing Lead with BT. Scott has been involved representing GB&FM in Prosperity marketing initiatives and interventions and also has responsibilities for APAC Marketing activities for GB&FM Propositions such as BT Unified Trading, BT Radianz and Payments. The objective is to develop BT’s presence for the entire portfolio of core and GB&FM services with financial institutions in the region supporting Steve Rathborne and the APAC GB&FM teams. Scott joined BT as part of the Radianz acquisition in March 2005. He expanded Radianz’s footprint to include Developing Markets such as Korea, Taiwan, China, India UAE and Russia as part of BT Radianz’s infrastructure and cross-border trading strategy to provide secure, reliable and scalable connectivity to the financial community. Prior to joining BT Scott was APAC Deputy Managing Director at Moneyline Telerate, a Market Data vendor that was acquired by Reuters. He also had other key roles in market data and network services. During his career Scott has become familiar with Over-The-Counter (OTC) products such as FX, Fixed Income, Credit Derivatives, etc. where the trading does not take place on an exchange but through money brokers as well as exchange-traded financial products including fixed income, derivatives and commodities. Scott is a member of the Society of Technical Analysts and the FIX Protocol Limited industry groups. He is also versed in regulatory and network service provision issues. Scott has lived in Hong Kong and Singapore for over 25 years and currently resides in Singapore.

Matthew Hassan

Matt Hassan is the Head of Quantitative Prime Services Flow Sales for Nomura Securities in Japan. Prior to his role at Nomura, Matt was in the low latency space at Lehman Brothers Japan where he solidified the client coverage offering. Following the bankruptcy of Lehman, Matt was instrumental in moving clients to Nomura and was key in expanding the electronic offering at the firm.

In his 15 plus years of industry experience, Matt has held a variety of senior positions within the electronic trading world both in the US and Asia.

With extensive contacts throughout the broker and hedge fund community, execution venues, technology and service vendors, Matt is regularly sought out as a thought leader in the electronic execution space.

Nick Merritt

Nick joined FISD in May 2007 and works with members focused on anti-piracy of market data, data provider contract licenses and policies as well as communication among participants in the market data industry. In addition, he serves as the primary point of contact for the Data Vendor Constituent Group and the Index Forum Group. Prior to joining FISD Nick was employed with the American Bankers Association from 2002-2007 and with The NASDAQ Stock Market from 1987 – 2001 where he served as Senior Director Issuer Services. Nick holds a BA from The University of Mississippi and an MBA from The George Washington University.

Stephen Murphy

Stephen Murphy is Sales Director with The SmartStream Reference Data Utility (RDU), responsible for the support and execution of new sales and revenue generation in Europe and Asia Pacific regions.
He originally worked with SmartStream in 2013, establishing the company’s first permanent presence in Hong Kong and expanding SmartStream’s Greater China business. Steve subsequently moved to London and is currently working within the SmartStream RDU business to promote its securities master data utility and MiFID II reference data and registry services.
Steve has over 30 years experience in the financial sector, having held senior sales and management roles with banks and brokerages, as well as financial data vendors and data/investment management businesses. He has extensive knowledge of the Asia Pacific financial industry, having spent the majority of his career in Hong Kong and Singapore.

Miguel Ortega

APAC Regional Head of Market Data, Deutsche Bank

Miguel Ortega is the regional head of market data for Deutsche Bank APAC, based in Japan. He is responsible for designing, implementing and supporting the bank’s market data infrastructure and market data commercial management.

Miguel started his career in Reuters in Mexico in 1995 as an installations, field support and open systems manager in charge of technical operations for the country. He transferred to Reuters New York in 1999 where he worked until 2002 as a senior systems engineer in charge of Reuters and Tibco product integration. From 2002 to 2007 he worked for Barclays Capital in New York as a regional market data technical services manager in charge of all market data infrastructure and distribution platforms. In 2007 and until 2008 he joined STAC, a performance benchmarking company that specializes in low-latency benchmarking for capital markets workloads as a managing consultant.
