Rich Brown

Managing Director, Market Data, Schonfeld

Rich Brown is the managing director of market data at Schonfeld, a multi-manager platform for quantitative, fundamental equity and tactical trading strategies. At Schonfeld, Rich is responsible for the market data sourcing function as well as the technology for the shared research environment which supports the various portfolio management teams. Prior to joining Schonfeld, he was managing partner at Semiotics, LLC, a boutique-consulting firm where he worked on a variety of projects primarily focused on information services, alternative data, and analytics. Prior to his consulting roles, Rich was the Global Head of Elektron Analytics for Thomson Reuters where he managed the strategy and P&L for a suite of software and data products targeted primarily at quantitative and event-driven trading clients.

Before Thomson Reuters, Rich co-founded and was the Chief Operating Officer at Foresight Research Solutions, LLC, a New York-based independent research firm. Rich began his career as a client manager for International Business Machines in New York where he managed the relationship and sales for major Fortune 500 clients. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management and International Business from The Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. Matt Fitzpatrick

Partner, McKinsey & Company

Matt Fitzpatrick is a Partner of McKinsey & Company, focusing predominantly on data, analytics and technology in financial services.
 
Matt leads McKinsey’s Financial Services Lab, a team of data scientists, software developers, and translators which builds data and analytics tools to enable business transformation on topics including credit underwriting, multi-channel customer acquisition, client retention, credit collections, natural language processing, real estate and locational selection, fraud, robotic process automation/smart operations, and people analytics

Prior to joining McKinsey, Matt was a co-founder of Lazada, a multi-category ecommerce retailer based in Southeast Asia, which was acquired by Alibaba in April 2016 for $1.5B. Matt also previously worked as a Private Equity investor at 3i group, a London-based private equity fund with $16 billion of assets.
 
Matt holds an MBA from Wharton Business School, and a B.A. from Princeton University where he graduated Magna cum Laude.

Dan Furstenberg

Global Head of Hedge Fund Distribution and Head of Data Strategy, Jefferies

Dan Furstenberg is a Managing Director and has worked at Jefferies for over ten years as the Global Head of Hedge Fund Distribution, creating the Jefferies Global Data Strategy and serving as a member of its Equity Committee. Dan has advised over one hundred investment managers’ data science teams on their build-out efforts and evaluated over two hundred data vendors. Dan recently co-authored two pieces of data-centric content including a whitepaper on Data Science and the Buy Side and another proprietary data survey. Dan began his career in investment banking, focusing on leveraged finance at Merrill Lynch before joining the tech banking team at Credit Suisse First Boston.

Jim Gregory

Jim Gregory is the Director of Business Development at ETF Global, which is an ETF data and research company based in New York. Jim has extensive experience in the financial services marketplace and joined ETF Global after 11 years as the US Sales Director for the TMX – Toronto Stock Exchange based in New York.

Jim’s previous experience included senior sales, sales management and global account management positions at ADP Brokerage Services (now Broadridge), Thomson Financial and Reuters America where he greatly expanded the client base for market data, clearing and treasury and risk management software services.

Tim Harrington

Tim is a co-founder and CEO of BattleFin Group Inc. BattleFin is an ecosystem focused on bringing alternative data to the world through BattleFin’s Alternative Data Discovery Day Events and Ensemble© Technology Platforms. He has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Tim was the President and a Partner at Lion’s Path Capital, a hedge fund strategy incubator where he allocated capital to 30 fundamental and systematic portfolio managers since the launch in 2009. From January 2006 until 2009, Mr. Harrington was a Vice President at J.P. Morgan Ventures where he was in charge of Global Technology, Media & Telecom Investments and served as a Portfolio Manager. From February 2002 until January 2006 he was a Telecom & Media Portfolio Manager at Sigma Capital, a subsidiary of SAC Capital. Mr. Harrington graduated from Columbia College in 1998. He was a member of the Columbia University Judiciary Board as well as a member of the varsity crew team.

Julie Hutchinson is the Capital Markets Segment Lead for Global Financial Solution Partners at AWS. She is responsible for defining strategy to grow the partner community and to accelerate cloud adoption among hedge funds, exchanges, asset/wealth managers, and financial information providers worldwide.. Most recently, she has been supporting exchanges, content providers, and industry utilities in their efforts to deliver, process, store, and analyze financial content on AWS. Julie has 18 years of experience supporting financial institutions and brings a unique perspective from having worked for network, extranet, and datacenter providers. She brings a deep understanding of the challenges related to migrating from legacy technology, and she uses that expertise to help guide organizations along their cloud journey. Prior to joining AWS, she was Head of Capital Markets Solutions for the US division of Colt Technology. She has also held business development roles at Equinix and Telx (Digital Realty). Julie has participated in and moderated panels for NJ Technology Council, FISD, STA-NY on Women in Technology, Market Data2.0, and MIFID II.

Norman Niemer

Norman Niemer is the Chief Data Scientist within UBS Asset Management’s Quant & Data Science (QED) team where he delivers data-driven investment insights. He is also responsible for both the business as well as technical aspects of multiple innovation projects that augment human decision makers with machine intelligence. Prior to UBS Asset Management, Norman led the data science efforts at UBS O’Connor, worked as an investment analyst at Caxton Associates and Morgan Stanley and even founded a tech company in high school. Outside of investment management, he has led teams that built data- and AI-based products that won several high profile hackathons including Techcrunch NY, Fintech NY and Mastercard Masters of Code NY. Elizabeth is Founder of White Rock Data Solutions LLC a consulting firm providing innovative solutions for managing and commercializing data. In 1996, Elizabeth joined Goldman Sachs and held leadership roles across Sales and Trading, Compliance, Middle Office and Treasury for nearly two decades, delivering impact through people, process, data and technology. Elizabeth developed the strategy for and built the first Supervisory Control Function on Wall Street. As Managing Director of the Global Market Data Services team, Elizabeth adopted new data sources and applied data science to vendor content and usage to drive expense efficiencies and developed the firm’s strategy for a centralized data cloud for external content. Elizabeth collaborated with data vendors and principal investing in strategic deals. In 2015, Elizabeth joined AIG as Chief Operating Officer, Science. She was responsible for ensuring improved business outcomes in customer experience, underwriting, and claims.
In 2017, Elizabeth became a founding executive at Crux Informatics, a startup reinventing data delivery in finance. While there, Elizabeth was responsible for Marketing, Sales, and Supplier Partnerships. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University, Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and MBA from Columbia University.

Ian Rosen

CEO, Stocktwits, Inc.

Prior to joining StockTwits as CEO, Mr. Rosen co-founded and was CEO of Even Financial, the Supply Side Platform for Online Financial Products. Before that, Mr. Rosen served as General Manager of MarketWatch Inc., one of the largest multi-channel markets and personal finance sources globally through 20%+ annualized growth. Mr. Rosen has managed large financial data businesses at both Thomson Reuters and Dow Jones, and has held positions at Goldman Sachs, Accenture, and several small firms building financial data focused products and businesses. Tracey Shumpert

Vice President of Membership and Programs, FISD

Tracey Shumpert is Vice President of Membership and Progams at FISD, where she seeks to constantly improve the FISD member experience and to broaden the FISD community. Kristen Thiede is a Senior Vice President at Two Sigma. She helps lead data acquisition and strategy for the firm globally. Prior to joining, Kristen was the founder and CEO of The First Step Project, connecting female founded businesses with Female Insurance Brokers. Previously, Kristen worked at Starry, serving as the senior vice president of Business Development and Corporate Strategy (2016 to 2017). Additionally, Walters manages a team responsible for new data product creation and customer analytics using advanced visualization and AI techniques. Walters has been with CME Group for 10 years serving in a variety of senior roles in business analysis, OTC energy valuations, and program management. Walters holds a Master’s in Business Administration and Information Systems from San Diego State University and a Master’s in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern University.
