  • How does each platform “build” a community?

  • How do the respective platforms differ in commerical outlooks and approaches to develop and distribute market data, charge for execution and clearing services?

Round Table Topic Introduction

The facilitators from each round table will give brief introductions of their use-cases.

5:00 P.M. – 5:40 P.M.

Use Case Round Table #1

What are microservices?

Microservices use publish/subscribe messaging to exchange information without needing to know the location or status of a system where it needs to be sent. Publishers of information simply send messages to the message broker which handles delivery to any number of services. This loose coupling allows microservices to be ready for the inevitable evolution of business requirements and application infrastructure. The round table will discuss a customer use-case to illustrate:

  • Scalability: as applications and enterprises grow, the ability to increase capacity becomes one of the most important advantages of microservices architecture, along with the ability to dynamically scale to optimize costs.
  • Agility: the ability to very quickly create and modify components in a way that offers bottom line business value.

Addressing Post MiFID II Challenges in Trade Reporting

The Systematic Internaliiser (SI) Registry fills a gap in the MiFID II reporting regime, which requires that industry participants identify whether trading counterparties are SIs for the financial instrument they are trading, so they can determine which counterparty must report the trade. This roundtable will discuss how to identify the SI status of your counterparties and how the SI Registry supports not only correct and timely trade reporting but also pre-trade compliance and best execution. Hear our expert speakers discuss the SI Registry, a collaboration between the SmartStream Reference Data Utility, the approved publication arrangement (APA) community and their clients as it becomes increasingly important with the SI Regime becoming mandatory from 1stSeptember 2018.

Benefits and use of exchange sourced Reference Data

Most market infrastructures (exchanges/ depositories) are the origination point of instrument-related reference data in their respective markets. Who and what it is used for? The discussion is to explore the benefits of receiving a direct structured reference data feed from the exchange; how/why it can be useful to market data vendors and market participants.

  • What are the current challenges that the participants face when the information is collected from other avenues such as prospectus documents, term sheets, annual reports, announcements, web search etc?
  • What are the specific attributes that participants find challenging to collect?
  • What is the impact will a direct feed have on front, mid and back office?
