The Customer’s Perspective

Working in a market data role in 2018 could be seen as a bit of a thankless task. The internal business is constantly demanding reductions in budgets and improvements in service levels – a tough circle to square. External vendors and suppliers in general are relentlessly trying to sell more; given the pressure they are under as they strive to maintain and grow profitability.  Cost cutting, and regulatory compliance are the norm – so what makes this job interesting and fulfilling? What new and more creative challenges are there in 2018 and 2019. Or perhaps what are the more creative approaches to long standing issues.

The Role of AI and Machine Learning in Our Industry

We discuss how Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning have been, and will be, applied to extracting meaning and signals from the data used in our markets. This is still a relatively new topic for many of us. This segment will be primarily about education. What are these technologies? How can they be meaningfully and affordably applied and to whom should we turn to for help, advice and ultimately product and service solutions? Inevitably these topics require an appreciation of The Cloud, Big Data, Deep Learning, Grid Computing and who knows what else. You may not walk away as experts after this, but your eyes will be opened, and your understanding broadened.
