David Anderson

Program Director, FISD/Atradia

David Anderson is a well know market data consultant. He has worked in the market data industry since 1984 – including roles with Telerate, Bishopsgate Systems and from 1989 13 years with Reuters culminating in various global marketing roles; in respect of market data systems (e.g. Triarch and RMDS). Since January 2002 David has been operating Atradia (www.atradia.com), a management consultancy practice focused on the market data industry. He has been quoted commenting on the market data industry in major publications. David edited the respected annual ‘IMD Reference’ book between 2003 and 2009. He instigated the SIIA/FISD initiative to create a professional certification program for market data practitioners. David also acts as a Program Director for a variety of other FISD activities including EMEA focussed events; the Exchange Constituent Group (ECG); the FISD Technology Forum; the FISD Buy Side Group; and the FISD Cloud Working Group. David and Atradia operate from the glorious countryside of West Sussex UK.

In 2006, Sam joined Thomson Reuters in New York within the product marketing and strategy team for Investment Management and Investment Banking products. In 2010, Sam relocated to Hong Kong where he was responsible for the Asia product strategy for Corporate Services and later went on to become Global Head of Business Intelligence, a $100m product line for Corporate Treasurers and Corporate Business Development professionals. In 2013, Sam moved to Canton Zug, Switzerland as Director of Strategy and Innovation, specializing in evolving the company’s businesses in blockchain, digital identity and alternative finance. Sam holds a Masters in Financial Strategy from Oxford University Said Business School. He is a Certified Associate Member of Corporate Treasury and also holds a Masters in Civil Engineering from the University of Bristol.

Tom Davin is Managing Director, Financial Information Services Association (FISD) of the SIIA. FISD is the global, neutral forum for the financial information industry with a diverse membership that includes major market data vendors, exchanges, technology providers, and the financial institutions that utilize financial data products. Tom works closely with FISD members to identify major issues and seek opportunities to bring the financial information industry together to discuss and resolve those issues. FISD conducts regular membership events in North America, Europe, Asia, Brazil, and Australia and hosts the biennial World Financial Information Conference – the premiere global industry conference for financial information professionals.

Richard Esmann

Managing Director, PVM Data Services

Richard Esmann is the Managing Director of PVM Data Services GmbH, based in Vienna, Austria. PVM Data Services is part of the Data & Analytics Division of TP ICAP, the world’s largest IDB. PVM Data Services has been set-up in 2006 and is dedicated to offering professional data services to the oil market by preparing unbiased end-of-day OTC oil market data. Previously, Mr. Esmann worked with the Vienna subsidiary of PVM Oil Associates, the world’s leading brand among brokers of oil instruments. There he started in the brokerage operation before moving on to consulting. He actively advised companies on practical price risk management and conducted training in derivatives and risk management. Mr. Esmann has been at the forefront of developing and managing the data business for PVM since 2000. Mr. Esmann holds a Master in Business Administration, Organization and Business Psychology from the Vienna University of Economics and Business, Austria.

John Ikel, DLS

Head of Data Compliance & Licensing, 3d innovations

John is a veteran of some 16 years in Market Data, with the majority of that time as an industry recognized subject matter expert for market data compliance & audit. John was the first person to be awarded the FISD Data Licensing Specialist (DLS) accreditation, which is a specialist qualification from FISD that focuses on the licensing and related compliance aspects of financial markets information usage at all levels from original source to ultimate consumer, including derived data. Prior to 3di John was Global Head of Market Data Compliance & Audit for BNP Paribas. During his 7 years with the bank he was globally responsible for market data compliance across the firm; managing market data usage by internal systems and end-users across the bank; and managing of both internal and third-party external market data audits from initiation to settlement. He advised internal clients on the data usage rules affecting operational processes and contract negotiations, and mentored / trained the internal market data teams on the same. He was additionally responsible for 2 years for the global commercial market data relationship with the Exchanges, five inter-dealer brokers (BGC Partners, ICAP, TradeWeb, Tradition, and Tullett Prebon), and fixings & bank rate providers; this covered not just global markets but also retail banking too. Before BNP Paribas, John worked in a similar, lower-level capacity at Commerzbank and Credit Suisse; and is personally accountable for actual P&L impacting savings of over €10m in the past 10 years of market data audits with much more avoided through market data compliance risk avoidance.

Philip Perrott

Head of DataLab, FENICS (BGC)

Phil and his team drive data innovation within FENICS MD and the BGC Group. Phil’s early career began at an IDB before moving into banking to build and run a number of sales, trading and portfolio management teams. The volatility of 2007 and 2008 identified an opportunity for more advanced risk reduction, analytical and data mining techniques and Phil therefore left banking to design and co-found ReMATCH a service which was to quickly become one the leading global CDS market risk reduction, data and analytical platforms. Phil joined BGC in 2016 to focus on their predictive pricing and analytical technology. With the industry wide focus on MIFID II this remit was expanded and DataLab was conceived to capitalise on the opportunities regulation and the explosion of Big Data will present.

James Watson

James Watson is the Global Head of Sales for the Tradition Market Data Group. With over 30 years’ experience in the financial industry, he has held senior roles across a wide range of companies, most recently as CEO of ADS Securities in London. Previously, he was head of the EMEA FX Transactions business and head of FXall EMEA at Thomson Reuters. Prior to that, he held senior sales management positions at GFI Fenics. He was also involved with equity sales at Morgan Stanley, Societe Generale and Lehman Brothers. Having worked in Asia, USA and Europe, James has a deep understanding of the cultural nuances of various regions and countries. James continually strives for positive change in all of his roles. His current project is aimed at influencing change in the market data business, as well as growing TraditionDATA into a major data provider of OTC products and analytics. James sits on two boards and is an active advisor and mentor to young entrepreneurs in disruptive technology businesses. James grew up in Australia, is married with three children and lives in Kent, England
