FISD In-Person Events in New York and London

While no one can be sure of when things will be fully back to “normal”, FISD has scheduled events in the fall in NYC and London so FISD members can once again enjoy networking receptions. The safety and comfort of our member attendees will be our highest priority. In addition to complying with applicable local laws and host requirements, FISD suggests that attendees who are not fully vaccinated wear masks. Be on the watch for announcements on dates and locations for these events, or any changes in local requirements.

Announcing WFIC 2022 Dates and Location

FISD is delighted to announce that the next World Financial Information Conference will take place from October 16-19, 2022 in Prague, Czech Republic. More announcements about WFIC 2022 will be coming to you in the coming months, but for now, please mark your calendars and save the dates. Currently WFIC 2022 is slated to be an in-person only event. Due to anticipated high demand, it is also planned to be an FISD member-only activity. If your firm isn’t an FISD member and you wish to participate, feel free to contact Tracey Shumpert for details.

Member Satisfaction Research – Data Collection ends this month

This month FISD will complete the data collection phase of our research project to gauge member satisfaction and elicit ideas on how FISD can deliver more value in the future. Through a mixture of online surveys and personal interviews, FISD has been reaching out to the main contacts at each FISD member firm. We would appreciate if these main contacts can dedicate a bit of time to help complete this valuable research for FISD’s future, and thanks to those who have already done so. WFIC 2022 Dates + Location Announced!

Congratulations, Nick Merritt!

At the end of this month, Nick Merritt will be retiring from FISD after 14 years of steadfast service to the financial information industry. FISD appreciates his commitment to members through his event programming, working group facilitation, creation of programs like the Index Forum, and member service orientation. Throughout his tenure, Nick has been a great teammate and will be missed by all of his colleagues at FISD. Hopefully, we will lure him out to an FISD event or two in the future (at least the drinks portion). Nick will be working right up through his retirement date of June 30; so members are encouraged to reach out to him to wish him well.

Back to Basics. What is the FISD FIA?

For those members who are not aware or are relatively new to FISD, the FISD Financial Information Associate (FISD FIA) is a credential trusted by over 2,000 market data professionals. Designed specifically for this industry, the syllabus challenges your mastery of four key topics: Markets, Data, Technology, and Issues & Trends. Score at least 75% on a 150-question exam and earn the recognition you deserve for your expertise. The v4.0 edition is updated to reflect what you need to know about alternative data, ESG, cloud, AI, and more in order to be successful.

Your peers have used the FISD FIA to:

FISD 2020 Year in Review Now Available

It has been a year since most of the world was locked down to stop the spread of COVID-19 and FISD transitioned from in-person to virtual member activities. A few months ago we asked FISD members to submit photos of themselves showcasing their new work lives. The Year in Review for 2020 was the result of those submissions. FISD would like to thank all of our members who submitted photos for the YIR.

WFIC Loyalty Program Reminder

We recognize that uncertainties due to the pandemic may cause members to delay in registering for WFIC and making travel-related commitments, and thus the popular early-bird registration discount and the Consumer Travel Stipend Program may be of limited value. For WFIC 2022, we will be recognizing long-term members’ loyalty to FISD by offering them a discounted admission rate or, in the case of our consumer members, a travel stipend – right up until the start of WFIC. Important deadline: To be considered a long-term member – and receive the discounted admission rate (or travel stipend for consumer members) – a firm must be an FISD member continuously from April 1, 2021 through the date of WFIC. Please let us know if you have any questions. We’ll provide more updates about the date and location of WFIC and the commercials as soon as this information is available.
