Cloud – we have talked the talk, now let’s walk the walk

Market Data in the cloud has been a rich topic for strategic thinking – something we have all enjoyed talking about and listening to. But now we need to step up and implement those ideas – “walk the walk”. This segment provides a practical discussion on the ways and means of implementing a cloud strategy for market and reference data. The topics will include approaches to connectivity, structure and storage. We will examine the options that are out there and what a firm and its suppliers need to do to make this happen. Now is the time to get your hands dirty, something our panelists know a thing or two about.

The school of HARD Knocks – it’s all about the hardware

Speed has slipped from the big headlines in recent years, but it is still a major factor in IT design and the underlying and eternal search to be one (or maybe even two) better than one’s opponents. In many cases HARDWARE plays a critical role but in what way and with what specific Hardware. Intriguingly speed is not the only issue that hardware addresses – Big Data and Deep Learning issues can be served by hardware solutions. FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) have been around for a while but more recently there is noise surrounding the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) something some of us thought only of interest to sunlight deprived gamers. Let’s cultivate our inner nerd and peel back some layers on this most technical of technical discussions.
