Location, Location, Location – The Changing ‘Where’ of Market Data

Most market data industry discussions focus on WHO is using the data and HOW it is being used. With the changes wrought by COVID and the Cloud, the WHERE has become important. As Coronavirus has driven users to their homes and the cloud has enabled data processing functions to be performed across regions, there are numerous issues for data providers and users to grapple with – both during the pandemic and post-COVID. This session will look at the policy, reporting, privacy and tax issues associated with the new, more fluid role that location plays for the management of market data. — FISD is the global forum of choice for industry participants to discuss, understand, and facilitate the evolution of financial information for the key players in the value chain including consumer firms, third party groups, and data providers. Compliance Panel Redux

The conversation continues! Those familiar with the well-received “Resistance is Futile, Compliance is Required” panel held on February 23 might have appreciated further Trekkie jokes like “Compliance II: Wrath of Contracts”, but we’re playing it straight. We will field an all-new panel to share perspectives on this highly-relevant topic, giving special attention to audience questions. Topics on the agenda include: Defining the problem: why is compliance so hard? Capabilities: do users and providers have the right skills? The right software? Solutions: DRM, entitlements software, contact management tools – what works well and what doesn’t? Audits: Make way for the elephant in the room. How can both parties make this less painful and still (mostly) achieve their contrary goals? Future of compliance: How does what you hope for compare to what you should expect? — FISD is the global forum of choice for industry participants to discuss, understand, and facilitate the evolution of financial information for the key players in the value chain including consumer firms, third party groups, and data providers. FISD 2020 Year in Review Now Available

It has been a year since most of the world was locked down to stop the spread of COVID-19 and FISD transitioned from in-person to virtual member activities.  A few months ago we asked FISD members to submit photos of themselves showcasing their new work lives.  The Year in Review for 2020 was the result of those submissions. FISD would like to thank all of our members who submitted photos for the YIR.

WFIC Loyalty Program Reminder

We recognize that uncertainties due to the pandemic may cause members to delay in registering for WFIC and making travel-related commitments, and thus the popular early-bird registration discount  and the Consumer Travel Stipend Program may be of limited value. For WFIC 2022, we will be recognizing long-term members’ loyalty to FISD by offering them a discounted admission rate or, in the case of our consumer members, a travel stipend – right up until the start of WFIC. Important deadline: To be considered a long-term member – and receive the discounted admission rate (or travel stipend for consumer members) – a firm must be an FISD member continuously from April 1, 2021 through the date of WFIC. Please let us know if you have any questions. We’ll provide more updates about the date and location of WFIC and the commercials as soon as this information is available.
